Nepal's holiest Hindu site, on the Bagmati, where open-air cremations take place on the ghats throughout the day.
Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple but can see the complex and the ghats from the east bank. Do not photograph cremations. The evening aarti on the river is at about 6pm.
